Michael Kimbi: A Career of Public Service and International Engagement

Michael Kimbi is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in trade, diplomacy, and public administration. His extensive experience in high-level roles reflects a continued commitment to promoting economic development and fostering bilateral relations between governments and international organizations.

Currently serving as Country Director for Cameroon and Gabon at the Department for Business and Trade since August 2023, Michael Kimbi plays a crucial role in shaping and implementing trade strategies between the United Kingdom and these Central African countries. His expertise spans project management, business analysis, strategic planning, and public policy, which he leverages to support UK companies entering these markets and to strengthen bilateral trade relations.

Before taking on his current role, Kimbi was Country Director for Cameroon from October 2020 to August 2023, during which he led the UK government’s diversity and inclusion policy across the Department for International Trade (DIT) Africa network. Overseeing more than 100 professionals across 23 countries, he focused on fostering inclusive work environments while driving economic exchanges between the UK and Cameroon.
