For the first time in the Leadership and top managerial records within Nexttel Cameroon since its establishment in 2014, a Cameroonian has been entrusted the position of CEO. It was in April 2021 that Benoît Yaoussou embraced the call. He was discreetly appointed CEO of Viettel Cameroon, which operates in Cameroon under the business name Nextell. He is a former high-ranking official at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Telecom Regulatory Agency (ART). As first Cameroonian to head, expectations are high to see him calm every stormy weather.
Taking over from his Vietnamese Presdecessor, he is expected to scale up Nexttel’s 15.56% of the market share. The act of appointment signed by Baba Danpullo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viettel, vividly spells out his tasks and prerogatives in accordance to Company’s internal regulations.
The mantle has fallen on the shoulders of Benoît to redeem, restructure and skyrocket the Company’s image. At the end of the day, results is what is expected. To who much is given , much is expected.
